It’s JAM

julieHi it’s Julie,
If you would like to be a helper in any way in our new venture please come and see me or give me a call on: 68840854
Thankyou.

JAM (Jesus and Me) is a new venture for children in primary school.  We meet every Friday fortnight during term from 3.50pm to 4.50pm to learn about faith and what that means in our lives.  We have afternoon tea for the first ten minutes and then meet to light the candle, find out what our lesson will teach us and sing our theme song JAM, which has some great actions that go with it.  Then we move into two classes – the older children in one room and the younger children in another room.  We have our lesson using Come and See Jesus material for about twenty minutes and finish off with craft.

Report on JAM and Mums & Bubs for Annual General meeting 14/02/10

I would like to thank Pastor Brenton for running the introduction to JAM each time and to all of those who have been involved with helping to either teach, assist, provide afternoon tea, or help with memory verses.  Your continued prayer support and help in 2010 are needed so that we can continue to grow our children’s knowledge and faith.

JAM and Mums and Bubs met seventeen times throughout 2009.  An average of 9 JAM aged children attended each time.  Mums and Bubs numbers varied, often with none there.

The JAM children brought along a gold coin offering each time they came, so that we could raise money for Australian Lutheran World Service.  In total, we raised $214.00!  With the money raised, the children chose to purchase a cow, a pig and 20 chicks for people in need.  Australian Lutheran World Service sent a letter of thanks, and also a postcard with either a cow, a pig or chicks on it for each of the children.  They were most excited to receive this.

We have met once this year, and fourteen children were there.  For first term, the children decided to give their offerings to support Haiti victims.  This year, we are going to be meeting on the same Friday as the confirmation class.  That way Pastor Brenton can spend the opening time with the JAM children and then go and teach the confirmation children.  On the alternate Friday, he will be able to spend time with the Anchor teenagers.

We hope to have some combined meetings, maybe once a term, with JAM, confirmation and anchor.

I am stepping down as Children’s Ministry Coordinator, as I feel led in other areas this year, including spending more time teaching at JAM. Thank you very much to Anna Orth for accepting the invitation to take over in the role of Coordinator, and I pray that you will encourage and support her in this role.
